Black History Month Spotlight: Art Expo/A Tribute to Black SciFi Authors

Gee, I can't believe Black History Month is almost over! Are you still looking for something cool to do to celebrate it? Can you get to Atlanta?

If so, be sure to check out the Midtown Atlanta Trader Joe's-Grady High School Black History Month Expo! This Expo features excellent artwork by Grady students and Trader Joe employees, who chose to paint portraits of famous black science fiction authors!

If you're a true SciFi fan, some of these authors are instantly recognizable, like Octavia Butler, Sam Delaney, N.K. Jemisin, and Walter Moseley.

Others you may know by their names and what they've written, but perhaps never seen their faces. Like Milton Davis and Balogun Ojetade, authors and founders of the State of Black Science Fiction Conference; Horror scifi writer Valjeanne Jeffers; speculative fiction writer Nicole Givens Kurtz; Munson Steed, creator of "Little Professor Skye" children's books about science and engineering; Greg Burnham and Marcus Williams, co-creators of the Tuskegee Heirs comic books; and others!

By the way, I had the good fortune to meet Proph (pictured below) when I visited the store. He's the talented artist who painted the portraits of Kurtz, Williams, and Jemisin!
